Celebrating Cultural Diversity at the Chinese Moon Festival
On September 21st, 2024, the Centre for Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS) at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) hosted a vibrant celebration of the Chinese Moon Festival, highlighting cultural exchange and further strengthening ties between Pakistan and the Chinese community.
A key feature of the event was an interactive drum circle, which drew enthusiastic participation and fostered a spirit of unity and collaboration. Traditional Chinese cuisine was showcased at food stalls organized by the local Chinese community, offering delicacies such as dumplings and noodles. The effort was led by Ms. Ho Yuk Bing, a valued member of the Chinese International Academy and Chinese Overseas Association in Lahore, whose contribution ensured an authentic culinary experience for all attendees.
The evening was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Mr. Du Yue, Director of the Political Section at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore; Mr. Wang Yaqiang, Vice Consul at the Chinese Consulate in Lahore; Dr. Saeed Shafqat, Director of the Centre for Public Policy and Governance (CPPG) at FCCU; and Mr. Rana Sajjad, Founder & President of CIICA, Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, and Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
Mr. Du Yue emphasized the significance of cultural collaboration between Pakistan and China, commending CCLS for organizing an event that strengthens the bonds of friendship and mutual respect between the two nations. The Chinese consulate has always been supportive of CCLS’ efforts and initiatives that promote academic, legal, and cultural collaboration between China & Pakistan.
The Chinese Moon Festival event provided a meaningful platform for cultural engagement, bringing together the Chinese community alongside LUMS students, faculty, and staff. The Centre for Chinese Legal Studies remains dedicated to promoting mutual cooperation and understanding, enhancing the enduring relationship between Pakistan and China.
