Advanced Topics in Chinese Law
This Spring 2021, CCLS has offered an advanced introduction to Chinese Law which covers its sources, institutions, and processes. Specific topics covered include gender and public law in contemporary China, preventive cybercrime and cybercrime by omission, and criminal protection of the right to personal information in China. Recent challenges relating to environmental public interest litigation in China will also be examined and solutions and prescriptions will accordingly be posited. A wide and diverse range of contemporary Chinese legal issues, including those relating to reproductive rights, investment agreements and the political and social freedoms of Chinese populace, will be investigated. As a whole, this course will engage with both the theoretical and practical constructs of Chinese law.
