Meeting with Chinese Consul General to Strengthen Academic and Cultural Ties
On May 23rd, 2025, representatives from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) visited the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore for a meeting with H.E. Zhao Shiren, Consul General of China. The discussion was attended by Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Provost of LUMS, and Dr. Sikander Ahmad Shah, Director of the Centre for Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS).
The meeting focused on reviewing joint efforts over the past year, including the continuation of the Mandarin language courses at LUMS, academic exchanges, and conversations around Chinese law, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and regional cooperation. These programs have contributed to building greater understanding and engagement between academic institutions in Pakistan and China.
The representatives also shared plans for the year ahead, including expanding language instruction, launching new training and research initiatives, and hosting academic events that explore legal, cultural, and policy issues relevant to China–Pakistan collaboration.
The conversation reflected a mutual commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships and building on the progress made to date. Both sides expressed interest in continuing to work closely on shared academic priorities.
