Mandarin Meets Youth: Chinese Language Journey Concludes
On August 1, 2025, the Centre for Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS), Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) at LUMS, held the closing ceremony of the Chinese Language Course for Young Learners. The ceremony started with opening remarks by Mr. Cao Ke, Deputy Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore, who spoke on the role of language education and early cross-cultural exposure in supporting long-term collaboration and understanding between China and Pakistan.
As part of the program, students showcased what they had learned through a series of cultural and language-based activities. The performances began with a traditional Lion Dance, bringing to life one of the most recognized elements of Chinese cultural expression. This was followed by a Dialogue Activity in Mandarin, where learners performed short, everyday conversations to highlight their developing vocabulary and conversational skills.
The ceremony also included an interactive quiz session, during which students acted out simple actions or scenarios and asked the audience to guess what they were doing. After receiving responses, the students revealed the corresponding Chinese word or phrase, allowing the audience to engage with the language in a fun and memorable way. This format encouraged participation and reinforced the practical use of the vocabulary introduced during the course. The ceremony ended with the certificate distribution among our young learners.
The Chinese Language Course for Young Learners is one of the CCLS’s outreach efforts to promote early engagement with language and cultural learning in the context of China–Pakistan cooperation.
