The Centre for Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS) at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, LUMS, attended the War for Peace – Chinese Film Exhibition, hosted by the Chinese Consulate in Lahore. The three-day exhibition, held from August 23 to 25, 2025, at the Alhamra Art Council, Lahore, highlighted landmark films on the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.

The Opening Ceremony was attended by Honourable Mr. Cao Ke, Deputy Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore; Mr. Razi Ahmed, Chairman of the Alhamra Arts Council; and Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani, Secretary for Information and Culture, Punjab. The dignitaries emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening China–Pakistan relations and preserving shared historical memory.

The exhibition featured a rich selection of Chinese films, including The Hundred Regiments Offensive (2015), The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru (2024), and Cliff Walkers (2021). Each film offered powerful narratives of courage, resilience, and the sacrifices made during one of the most pivotal periods in modern Chinese history.

CCLS’s participation in this initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to promoting mutual understanding, cultural diplomacy, and people-to-people ties between China and Pakistan. Through events like this, CCLS aims to foster dialogue, learning, and greater appreciation of China’s history, law, and culture among Pakistani audiences.

The War for Peace – Chinese Film Exhibition served as a valuable platform for academics, students, cultural enthusiasts, and the wider public to engage with Chinese cinema and history, strengthening the foundations of Pakistan-China friendship.
