CCLS Talk Series '25: Justice Kemal Shah Bokhary Delivers Talk on Pakistan–Hong Kong Legal Systems
On September 25th, 2025, the Centre for Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS) at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL), LUMS, was honored to host Hon’able Justice Kemal Shah Bokhary, Non-Permanent Judge of Hong Kong's Court of Final Appeal and Honorary Professor at the University of Hong Kong, for an exclusive session under the CCLS Talk Series.
Justice Bokhary’s distinguished career spans over five decades. He was called to the English Bar in 1970 and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1983. He later served as a Permanent Judge of Hong Kong’s Court of Final Appeal, where he presided over numerous landmark constitutional cases. Widely respected for his integrity and deep commitment to the rule of law, Justice Bokhary continues to be a leading voice in international legal discourse.
In his talk, Justice Bokhary shared comparative insights on the legal systems of Pakistan and Hong Kong, exploring their similarities, differences, and the broader lessons they offer for legal practitioners, scholars, and students alike. The discussion provided a rare opportunity for participants to engage with one of the most respected figures in international law, enriching their understanding of comparative legal studies.
