CCLS Hosts Mr. Zafar Uddin Mahmood for Insightful Discussion on China-Pakistan Collaboration

On February 7th, 2025 the Centre for Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS), Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) at LUMS had the privilege of hosting Mr. Zafar Uddin Mahmood, former Special Envoy for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), for an engaging discussion on fostering collaboration and exploring new avenues for growth.

With an extensive 44-year association with China, Mr. Mahmood shared invaluable insights into potential partnerships, emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral ties. His distinguished career includes serving as Pakistan's first Consul General in Shanghai and founding ‘Understanding China’, an initiative dedicated to enhancing bilateral understanding and people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and China.

Currently, Mr. Mahmood serves as Policy Advisor to the Secretary General at the BOAO Forum for Asia (BFA), further reinforcing his expertise in China-Pakistan relations. His visit to CCLS provided an enriching platform for dialogue, reinforcing the centre’s commitment to fostering academic and strategic collaborations between the two nations.
