CCLS Hosts the Chinese Overseas Association & Chinese International Academy

LUMS

On January 2, 2023, the CCLS team engaged with Ho Yuk Bing, the Deputy Secretary-General at the Lahore Overseas Chinese Association and Vice Principal at the Lahore Chinese International Academy. Also present were key representatives from both organizations, engaging in discussions aimed at exploring potential collaboration avenues for the promotion of Chinese language and culture in Pakistan, and vice versa. The meeting encompassed various areas of partnership, with a significant focus on the Academy's potential support for language promotion initiatives. This included teacher sharing for Chinese language courses at the CCLS. The Overseas Association expressed its support by extending invitations to the Center for participation in relevant seminars, conferences, and consultation groups organized by the Association. In reciprocation, the CCLS offered access to its cohort of researchers, pledging logistical and academic support for future partnerships with public and private organizations. Discussions also revolved around establishing connections with the Chinese community in Pakistan to strengthen people-to-people linkages in the future. The meeting proved highly fruitful, as the parties identified potential collaborations to encourage cross-border cooperation between academia and businesses for research and the promotion of language and culture. The overarching goal is to contribute to the establishment of sustainable partnerships between Pakistan and China.
